Recently, I have found myself overwhelmed by my “To Do” list. The more I try to prioritize and break it down into small tasks the more I feel like I get nothing done. Which at the end of the day is discouraging and at the beginning of the next day causes anxiety. I discovered instead of a “To Do” list (or along with a “To Do” list) I write a “To Done” List. This is a list of what I have accomplished for the today. The list includes everything. Starting with “Got out of bed.” No matter how small or seemingly insignificant I put it on my list. It reminds me of all the progress I am making and all the potential I have to continue to grow. It is encouraging and gives me a “I Got This” feeling. I am less overwhelmed. It also helps me figure out what my priorities are and reminds me that small successes help get the larger projects done. If you are struggling through your “To Do” list, with anxiety and depression I highly recommend trying out a “To Done” List.
