Sunrise, Sunset

“Early to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.” –Benjamin Franklin

“It is well to be up before daybreak, for such habits contribute to health, wealth, and wisdom.” –Aristotle

I never thought was a morning person…not exactly. I have worked overnights (10 pm to 6 pm), day time (5 am to 2 pm) and in between (6 pm to 3 am). I was upbeat anytime of the day. I functioned about the same anytime of the day. So not really a morning or night person.

However, I have discovered as I get older that my preference is earlier. I believe the day is half over by 9 am. When I say early I mean 3 am to 4 am early. And I am okay with going to bed early because I am a fuddy duddy, a party pooper, a semi-old person. I have no kids or a partner. So my time is my own.

Benjamin Franklin and Aristotle had a point. It is super quiet so early in the morning. The moon, in any phase, is beautiful. Watching a sunrise is amazing. There is time to collect your thoughts before the rest of the world and the media noise starts.

I feel more productive when I get up early. It also helps with anxiety. Gives me time to emotionally prepare for the day as well as mentally. Getting myself on any type of bedtime routine is hard. I still struggle with going to bed early but it is getting easier and more consistent to do.

The most important part of this or any of my posts is finding what works for you. What helps make life more meaning for and fun. Enjoy the present!
