Day two of blogging.
Today’s blog post actually is a recommendation of an Audio Book I purchased.
“Atomic Habits” by James Clear. This is an older book but it was recently recommended to me. “Atomic Habits” is all about the formation of habits and breaks down some of the science. It covers the “four laws” for creating lasting good habits and how to break bad habits.
My journey to this book came because I want to start a morning routine. My ideal routine would be to get up at 5am, do yoga, go to the gym, eat breakfast and mediate before going to work or starting my day. That’s the basics. There are more details but the broad strokes are fundamental to get in place first.
“Atomic Habits” helped me to understand that starting small, not letting set backs get in the way, and changing my attitude towards the journey instead of the end results will help to build the ideal day I want. Not that every day will be ideal but that the majority of them can align with who I want to be.
Besides the book, I also downloaded the Atomic App, a habit tracker, that helps visualize my progress.
The main question with “Atomic Habits” is not what do you want to do but WHO DO YOU WANT TO BE.
So I am choosing to be a writer. I am choosing to be an organized person. I am choosing to be a morning person. And while I may not make the mark everyday, I can pick back up as soon as I can and carry on.
I highly recommend “Atomic Habits” for anyone looking to make lasting changes in your life.
